For the last two weeks the real anti-choice movement has been in high dudgeon over the thought of the Focus On The Family/Tim Tebow ad. For two weeks progressives like Gloria Alred took to the airwaves calling the ad "divisive" and "offensive to women". Blog commenters like rmwarnick called CBS hypocritical for "reversing" their standards and practices and caving to Focus On The Family. For two weeks the talk was about abortion, whether it was/is legal in the Philipines in 1987 (while technically it is illegal in the Philippines it still happens fairly frequently - usually in the case where the life of the mother is at risk as was the case with Ms. Tebow). The shrieking and mass hysteria on the left was out there for all to see. A lot was said in the last two weeks about the ad, and in the end, when the ad aired.....
...it was nothing close to ANYTHING that the left said it was. It was simply talking about a mother, who had a son who grew up to do something spectacular. The best part of the ad though was that people spent the last two weeks talking about Tebow, his life story and abortion and the ad had nothing to do with abortion! I don't know if this was intended or not, but Focus on The Family got people talking about abortion and it's consequences. It really was played masterfully! |
